Sensitization on Covid 19 in Elak, Oku
Circular letter No 03942/LC/MINDDEVEL of 22nd October 2020 relating to managing the Special National Solidarity Fund for fight against coronavirus in Councils. As part of government strategy in response to the multiple impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic in Cameroon, the President of the Republic decided to set up the special national solidarity fund for the fight against coronavirus and it economic and social impacts for 2020.
As per the terms of reference for the implementation of the funds transferred to Elak Oku Council for fight against COVID 19, target places were markets, public squares, churches, streets, motor parks.
Action Plan:
Action for Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection for Communities (ASDEP-CO CAMEROON) was chosen as the local support organization to accompany Elak Council for the implementation of this project. To this effect, a pole of expert in community outreach programmes, health expert, environmentalist, jurist, accountants, community mobilizers, social workers and development experts were drawn from ASDEP-CO Cameroon and placed at the disposal of the Council for the implementation of this project.
The activity was carried out within duration of one month. However the process continues with follow up. ASDEPCO continued with monitoring and continues sensitization of the population within the Municipality of Elak Oku.
The entire process centered around:
- Public sensitization,
- Visit to households,
- Presentations by ASDEPCO experts in various domains,
- Provision of some sanitary and hygiene materials to some beneficiaries
- A continues to follow up,
- Monitoring and evaluation.
Day of Public Sensitization and Distribution of Materials:
Date: Saturday 26th of December 2020
Venue: Elak Motor Park
Modules to be Presented:
- Presentation of WASH by The National Coordinator ASDEPCO Cameroon
- Presentation on COVID-19 and its manifestation, symptoms, management, and preventive measures by DMO Oku Health District
- Presentation on living in a healthy environment by Divisional Delegate of Environment Bui.
Other activities of the Day:
- Distribution of material ( face mask, hand sanitizer, savoon, buckets , detergents etc)
- Caravan with flyers, portals, banners, stickers, handbills.
- Distribution of program t-shirts and face caps
